OLD QUINDARO MUSEUM & INFORMATION CENTER HOSTS 2ND ANNUAL OLD FASHION CHRISTMAS RECEPTION

Kansas City, KS (Dec. 7, 2009) The recently established Old Quindaro Museum & Information Center will host a Christmas Wine and Cheese Reception on Sunday, December 13, 2009 from 2 pm 6 pm. There will be an unveiling of an Old Quindaro Museum & Information Center exhibit honoring the African-American community of Old Quindaro in Kansas City, Kansas.

The 2nd Annual Old Fashion Christmas Reception is a Old Quindaro Museum & Information Center fundraiser* with a goal of purchasing the historic John A. Walker residence.

Attendance is open to the public.

About Old Quindaro Museum & Information Center
Concerned Citizens for Old Quindaro, sponsor of Old Quindaro Museum & Information Center, is a twenty-five year old 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization dedicated to the preservation of the African-American community of Old Quindaro. The historically designated Old Quindaro Township was founded in the mid-1850s and has been determined to be the largest archeological find associated with the Underground Railroad.

Old Quindaro Museum & Information Center is the only African-American Museum in Wyandotte County, Kansas City Kansas. This living museum is located in the historic John A. Walker residence in Old Quindaro Township. John A. Walker serves as the caretaker for Western University for sixty years. Western University, founded in 1873 in Old Quindaro Township, was the oldest African-American university west of the Mississippi.
